As an artist/crafts woman my materials are the life force of each piece of work that I undertake. I love to ‘experiment and discover’ whether creating an artefact or engaged in a restoration project. My creative mind constantly explores new ideas, methods and techniques to achieve a successful result.

I have always enjoyed repairing and renovating objects/textiles and items of furniture. It is a joy seeing a clients treasured object or item of furniture - broken/worn and seemingly beyond repair - come back to life!

The last few years I have been travelling/volunteering overseas – Africa and the Middle East. I worked as an English teacher and also taught Leadership Skills. I spent many months in Ethiopia where I was fortunate enough to put on an exhibition of 'pen and ink washes' from the many photographs I took of the culture, people and landscape. The opportunity also arose to teach a couple of students the skills needed for basic furniture restoration. (see 'Other' and 'Portfolio' section - My travels in Ethiopia)

Upon returning to the UK I rented a studio/workshop and began making and decorating objects/pictures/cards and accepting various artefacts/textiles/furniture restoration projects - creating ‘Christine’s Repair Corner’.

The Exhibition was very succesful. I have some pictures still available. Please email me if you are interested. They are all A3 in size. Watercolour, Ink and Pen work.

Before I started painting, I researched and took pictures of everything that moved in order to capture the culture and scenery of the Ethiopian landscape. This compilation of work was the result of both living and working as a teacher in Addis Ababa. I travelled to vastly different areas, each with their own unique traditions and tribal heritage. The people are some of the most handsome I have encountered in my world travels. They are very welcoming and hospitality is in their blood and culture. Each picture is a snapshot of my time in this glorious part of Africa. The poverty I witnessed was beyond what one could imagine yet even the very poor survive because of the produce they get from fertile soil and of course the miraculous God given Teff grain. I recommend one puts this on their list of places to visit.Read More
